Nintendo has recently revealed a new DLC stage for Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS based on the newly released level designer, Super Mario Maker. This Super Mario Maker stage will be randomly generated each time it is played, and will be created by the Mario Maker "hand" (as opposed to Master Hand) from the game's plethora of stage trinkets.
The announcement trailer gives us our first look at the brand new stage. The hand, with stylus at the ready, pops in at the beginning of every match and swiftly creates a stage. Obstacles in the Mario Maker stage work as they do in just about any classic Mario Bros. series stage -- brick blocks can be broken and "?" blocks can produce items. If anything is broken by a fighter, the Mario Maker hand will leap to action and "fix" the stage's problems. Helping hands really are nice sometimes.
My biggest question is this -- will the Super Mario Maker stage feature a neutral "Omega" form? The answer is likely yes, but there are currently no details as to what the "Omega" version of this stage will look like or how it will function. "Omega" forms bring a Final Destination / Battlefield vibe to the arena, but this may be tougher to realize for a stage that's all about being randomly generated.
The Super Mario Maker stage will be available for both the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS versions of Super Smash Bros. starting September 30, 2015.
