Famitsu has confirmed that the cartoon Hero of Time, Toon Link, will be playable in the upcoming 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors Legends. He will be playable in all modes except Legend mode, where other Wind Waker characters such as Tetra the pirate can take the reigns.

Toon Link is described as a "swift and agile" character, reminiscent of his appearances in other spinoff titles such as Super Smash Bros. We have not yet gotten a look at Toon Link's movement or attack style in Hyrule Warriors Legends for 3DS, but chances are we will get gameplay footage when the game is presented at Tokyo Game Show later this month.

As mentioned earlier, Toon Link cannot be used in the "Legends" story mode, which suggests to us that the included "Wind Waker" segment will only feature Tetra and the King of Hyrule as playable characters. The two Wind Waker story representatives can be transferred to the Nintendo Wii U port of Hyrule Warriors after the release of the 3DS version.

Hyrule Warriors Legends, Koei Tecmo's take on Dynasty Warriors meets Legend of Zelda, is set to release on all Nintendo 3DS systems in spring of 2016. The good news is that it will support all the DLC characters that have been released for the Nintendo Wii U version, as well as featuring several additional series representatives.
