Pikachu, I choose you! Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, and Niantic announced a partnership today to bring everyone's favorite Pokémon to iOS and Android devices in 2016. Titled Pokémon GO, would-be Pokémon Masters will soon be able to catch, trade, and battle their favorite creatures from their smartphone. Nintendo on the go isn't a new concept. In fact, last month they announced a partnership with DeNA to bring some of their games to mobile devices. Pokémon GO, however, isn't one of the games coming out of that collaboration.
Unlike previous Pokémon games that have regions based off of real life locations, Pokémon GO uses location data to generate Pokémon for you to discover as you're going about your daily activities whether it be work, school, or just hanging out with your friends. When you can't get to your phone, Pokémon GO can sync with the Pokémon GO Plus device through Bluetooth. The Plus device will flash and vibrate when a wild Pokémon is nearby, giving you the chance to catch it by pressing a button.
Pokémon GO will bring Pokémon to life on your iPhone or Android phone when it releases on the App and Google Play stores in 2016. Get out there and become the very best that no one ever was. Gotta catch 'em all! Just... watch out for people dressed like Team Rocket. They still want a Pikachu.
