Neil Druckmann wants to make Half-Life 3, but needs Valve to hand over the license

No, no, Half-Life 3 isn't confirmed... yet. It might be, though, as The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 director Neil Druckmann is currently courting Valve in hopes that the company releases the Half-Life license to Naughty Dog. Druckmann assured Valve through Twitter last week that all Naughty Dog would "take care of the rest" if they got their hands on Half-Life.

Half-Life 3 is arguably one of the most anticipated video game titles in some time. Fans have been making "Half-Life 3 confirmed" jokes for several years now and likely dying a little inside each time it happens. Valve is yet to make a statement either confirming or denying plans for a third Half-Life. Instead, they opt for evading questions and talk about their process instead of saying whether or not the company plans to make the mythical PC game a reality.

Enter Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann. They're ready and willing to take on the challenge of the Half-Life franchise, but they need Valve's permission to do so. The Last of Us was a highly successful and fun title. Uncharted 4 is also shaping up to be a great game. The ball is in Valve's court here, but they certainly wouldn't have to worry about the future of the Half-Life franchise if it was licensed out.
