Everyone's getting in on eSports lately. Team-based ink shooter Splatoon had an eSports tournament announced last month, but we're not here to talk about Nintendo. Petroglyph's real time strategy title Grey Goo is the newest entry to the ever-growing eSports catalog. The world's top players will battle it out over the coming months for a shot at claiming a piece of the $75,000 prize pool.

Grey Goo fans who don't qualify for the tournament series and eSports fans in general will be able to watch the entire tournament series on Twitch. The first qualifying event for the Grey Goo Tournament Series will take place September 26 with additional events will take place in October and November. The top four finalists from each event and eight wildcard players will be extended an invitation to outplay each other in January at PAX South in San Antonio, Texas.

Interested players who are in the top 16 of the 1v1 leaderboards can sign up for tournament events at the GGTS website. Only the finals will be held at a specific event, so competitors don't have to worry about updating passports in order to play from home. Players who don't place as a finalist in one event are able to compete in subsequent qualifying rounds as long as they maintain a position in the top 16 of the Grey Goo leaderboards.
