Total War: Warhammer announced with cinematic trailer, also to receive two standalone expansions

Total War: Warhammer was officially revealed today with a cinematic trailer from development studio Creative Assembly. This will be the first game in the Total War series set in a fantasy world. Players will be able to choose from four factions: the Empire, Goblins and Orcs, the Dwarves and the Vampire Counts.

Developers are collaborating with Games Workshop to combine the rich fantasy setting of Warhammer with Total War's real-time battles and turn-based strategy management. Project lead Ian Roxburgh said in the announcement that he believes Creative Assembly can bring the Warhammer universe to life "in a way that nobody's attemped before."

Along with Total War: Warhammer, Creative Assembly also announced two standalone expansions that they say will combine to make the largest Total War experience yet, whle also turning the Warhammer spinoff into a full trilogy. The first in said trilogy is expected to deliver hundreds of hours of gameplay alone.

No release date has been announced but the trailer concludes with the words "coming soon."
