7-day countdown to Kerbal Space Program's April 27 launch reveals female Kerbal's in 1.0

As far as the plusses and minuses of Early Access on Steam go, there isn't a better poster child for the program than SQUAD's Kerbal Space Program. The spacecraft creation simulator has grown from relative obscurity into a cult hit since its initial release via Early Access on March 20, 2013. Hell, the game has more community-built mods than most modern AAA titles will ever see in this day and age. Thus, it should be celebrated that Kerbal Space Program will be arriving at full release on April 27.

Announced today in the game's forums, directly to the community as one would expect from SQUAD, the reveal came with very little fanfare. There was just a single sentence stating the transition, plus the implication that between then and now several "preview" videos would be released showcasing some content to be added. Today's video was marked "Day 7," which I'm guessing means we've got another 6 videos lined up with exciting new features and fun.

Speaking of Day 7, today's video has a feature fans have been looking forward to for some time -- the addition of female Kerbals! Ladies will be joining the Kerbal space efforts when Kerbal Space Program launches on April 27. To be fair, up until the point it wasn't really clear whether there were multiple sexes for the Kerbal species. Maybe there's even a third sex? Either way, lady Kerbals are just as freaky looking as their male counterparts, so good on SQUAD for making their game egalitarian.

Kerbal Space Program moves from Early Access to full launch on April 27. Make sure to head over to the official Kerbal Space Program forums to keep up with the daily previews of content to be added as the game moves into full release. For now, check out the teaser trailer for the addition of female Kerbals. Those poor, poor women don't know what they're getting into.
